We are an online clearance warehouse, so what we can offer changes with what we can buy. This is the short version of how that works, what it means for the price you pay, and where the limits are.

Where the stock comes from

Surplus inventory, closeout runs, discontinued lines and liquidation stock. It is new goods that a manufacturer or a distributor needs to move, usually because a line has been replaced, a run was over-produced, or a retailer cancelled. None of it is used and none of it is seconds.

Why the price is lower

Two reasons, and neither of them is a trick. The stock is bought at a clearance price rather than at a standard trade price. And there is no retail shop front here, so there is no shop rent, no shop staff and no store fit-out sitting on top of the item.

What that means for availability

A clearance line is a finite quantity. When it is gone we cannot always get more of the same thing, and we will not pretend otherwise by leaving a page up that cannot be filled. If a size or a colour matters to you, it is worth ordering it rather than waiting.

Reading a listing here

Every specification on a product page is the one the supplier publishes for that item. Where a figure is not published, the page says so and invites you to ask, rather than borrowing a number from a similar product. That is deliberate: a plausible specification you cannot stand behind is worse than an honest gap.

Delivery and what it costs

Delivery is free across Canada on orders of $75 or more, and $25 below that. Orders are handled in 24 to 48 hours and then take 5 to 7 days, so allow about a week end to end. A tracking number is emailed when the parcel actually ships.

If you change your mind

This store accepts returns within 15 days of purchase. A change-of-mind return carries a non-refundable $29 per order packing and handling charge and the return postage is yours; a faulty, damaged or wrong item is our cost to put right. The refunds and returns page sets out the whole policy. We allow 15 days rather than 14. A faulty or wrong item is our cost to put right either way, including the return postage.

What is a clearance warehouse?

A clearance warehouse is an outlet that sells heavily discounted stock: overstock, end-of-line runs, discontinued models, and items whose packaging is imperfect while the goods inside are not. The stock is new. Clearance describes how it was bought, not what condition it is in.

Why buy clearance

The price is cut because the stock was bought at a clearance price and because there is no shop front behind it, not because the goods are lesser.

The range rotates. What is here this month is what could be bought this month, across lawn and garden, home, tools, bedding, car, kids, health, office and drinkware.

Bulk quantities are available and are quoted per order through the wholesale page rather than published as a trade list.

Buying stock that already exists keeps it out of a landfill, which is a real thing that happens to unsold inventory.

What a good clearance sale looks like

Stock that actually changes, rather than the same page for a year. Condition and packaging described plainly. A checkout that is secure. And a returns policy that is written down and does not change depending on who asks.

How to buy well from a clearance store

Check the dimensions before you order. Most returns from this store are size returns, and a size return costs you the $29 handling charge and the postage back.

Read the specification. Where a figure is not published for an item, the page says so rather than guessing, and you can ask us before you buy.

Look at the multi-buy options. Several lines here are sold as packs at a lower price per unit than the single.

Do not wait too long on a line you want. A clearance quantity is finite and often cannot be repeated at the same price.

Three things people get wrong about clearance stock

That it is poor quality. Most of it is overstock or a discontinued model, not a defect.

That it cannot be returned. This store takes returns for 15 days; the terms are on the refunds and returns page and include a $29 change-of-mind charge, which is the part people mean when they say returns are hard.

That there is never a warranty. Some lines carry a manufacturer's warranty and some do not. We do not publish a warranty period unless the supplier publishes one, so if a product page is silent on it, treat that as no published warranty and ask.
